The evening featured selections from texts that Marella has generated for theater, musical theater, and opera over the course of the first decade of her career. The evening was directed by Timothy Koch.

DOS DIVAS

Sarah was thrilled to play Laura in the New Studio on Broadway's Fall production of Swing! It was a true honor to sing and dance to some of the most gorgeous and iconic swing music of the 1930s and 40s! The production was directed and choreographed by Dell Howlett and music directed by Corey Wachala.

ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM

Sarah and Lauren Baez took the stage together to make their 54 Below debut in their show, Dos Divas! The evening included special guest appearances by Broadway legend, Eden Espinosa (Wicked, RENT, Brooklyn: The Musical), as well as Kimberly Immanuel (Pacific Overtures, Waterfall, The Fantasticks), Frankie Gonzalez (Superhero, The MollyHouse), Gabrielle Garcia (Mad World), and Issa Best (Wig Out). Wepa!

Sarah was thrilled to be in the first reading of Elephant in the Room: A Song Cycle, collaborating yet again with composer Casey O'Neil (Music & Lyrics). The reading was directed by Marella Martin and music directed by Mark Evans.

SUBURBAN NIGHTMARE

Tender Trap

Sarah was thrilled to originate the role of Morgana in the first concert workshop of the new rock horror musical, Suburban Nightmare, written by AJ Ditty (Book) and Travis Yablon (Music and Lyrics). The workshop was produced in collaboration with the Insomnium Theatre Company, co-directed by Lauren Harris and Felicia Lobo.

NEW YORK DANCE MARATHON

Sarah had the honor of originating the role of Gloria in the first workshop of this new musical, written by Casey O'Neil (Music) and Marella Martin-Koch (Book and Lyrics), and directed by Kent Nicholson.

SISTER ACT

Sarah and the NYU StageWorks cast of In the Heights reunited to perform a medley of numbers from the show at the New York Dance Marathon. NYDM is an effort to raise awareness and funds to help fight childhood cancer, which culminates in a 12-hour dance marathon.

Sarah had the honor of tackling a second show in one semester and played Wanda in The New Studio on Broadway's upper level production of Sister Act​! The production was directed and choreographed by Dell Howlett, and music directed by Crystal Monee Hall.

ONCE UPON A TIME

Sarah had the honor of making her NYU Main Stage debut as Nina Rosario in In the Heights​! She was thrilled to be playing her dream role amongst a dream cast. Tickets to the show sold out in a record breaking 3 minutes, leading the production to add extra performances due to high demand! It was directed by Melissa Maxwell, choreographed by Enrique Brown, and music directed by Sinai Tabak.

Sarah made her solo cabaret debut in her sold-out one woman show, Once Upon a Time. As a child Sarah was enamored with fairy tales and using her vivid imagination to tell stories, and as an adult she gets to live her dream every day by telling stories for a living as an actress. In this special one night only performance, Sarah performed some of her favorite songs and conveyed through stories and anecdotes the trials and tribulations of a New York City actress who still believes in magic.

STAGEBOUND VOCAL INTENSIVE

National Opera Center of America

Sarah was selected to participate in the Stagebound Summer Vocal Intensive. This week-long intensive included workshops and master classes of all genres. Faculty included: Oliver Award nominee Karen Parks, Tony Award nominee Michael McElroy, Samuel McKelton, Darryl Tookes, and many others. Master classes included: Tony Award winner Randy Graff (Les Miserables, City of Angels), and Tony Award nominee Chris Jackson (Hamilton, In the Heights). The week culminated in an industry showcase held at the National Opera Center of America.

Sarah had the honor of singing alongside seasoned Broadway performers including Tony Award nominee Michael McElroy (RENT, Big River, Violet), Oliver Award nominee Karen Parks (Carmen Jones,  Pagliacci), Samuel McKelton (The Lion King,  Five Guys Named Mo), Darryl Tookes, select members of the Broadway Inspirational Voices gospel choir, and many other esteemed guests.

Sarah was honored to make her NYU stage debut as Hera in the New Studio on Broadway's Sophomore Project production of Xanadu! The production was directed by Catie Davis, choreographed by Max Sheldon, and music directed by Sam Bagala.

Sarah is thrilled to be making her Off-Broadway debut and joining the company of Pop Punk High as a swing! Pop Punk High is a new musical by Ben Lapidus and Anderson Cook that parodies and celebrates the pop punk bands of the 2000’s and all the misguided angst they inspired. The production is directed by Felicia Lobo.

Sarah was thrilled to lend her voice to this concert, which benefitted the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) which works to defend and preserve individual rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States. Sarah is passionate about using art to promote equality and was thrilled to lend her voice to this cause.

CUMMING FOR PUERTO RICO

Sarah was thrilled to work with longtime inspiration, Alan Cumming, to yet again benefit the citizens of Puerto Rico affected by Hurricaine Maria. She teamed back up with Lauren Baez to perform selections from their sold out Feinstein's/54 Below show, Dos Divas, as a part of this gorgeous evening that celebrated Puerto Rican culture.
